Tour Aotearoa

The TA (Tour Aotearoa) is a bicycle trail running the length of New Zealand but with kinks in it. The result: 3000 kilometres of trail that is in your backyard. Many Kiwis see some of it, dabble with bits of it. Few go the whole hog.

 About this book.

This book is a tale about Duncan Coutts’ as he takes on the epic challenge of cycling the Tour Aotearoa —an adventure packed with grit, camaraderie, and a few unexpected twists..

The TA is a tough trip to make on your own and it’s good to have a buddy. Duncan took Homer along for the ride—neither could have done it without the other.

The nature of the TA – different strokes for different folks - means that one will have numerous interactions with other entrants. Luigi is one of those and features as a larger than life character in the book; he became a ‘multi-buddier’.

Take inspiration from this book and don’t overthink your next escapade. Just begin …

As Jonathan Kennett said: ‘If Duncan can do it, anyone can’.

The International Island Classics were events that became the highlight of the year for many riders from around the globe.

These were remarkable races which pitched amateur riders against professionals and former pros. Even the famous looked forward to January at the iconic Phillip Island circuit.

The Phillip Island Classics have been great meetings and I always enjoyed them.
— Jeremy McWilliams

Duncan Coutts has assimilated both the pros and the clubbie racers into this tale which features some wackiness along with the full range of emotions experienced by riders.

Racing a motorcycle is experiencing a shorthand version of life itself. Hope, fear, despair, disbelief, betrayal, love, confusion, passion, anger. All the emotions a bloke is unlikely to talk about – but put a race motorcycle under him and he is living them.
